Detecon Milestones


2009

Detecon opens offices in Moscow (Russia) and Ankara (Turkey).


2007

Detecon celebrates its 30th company anniversary.


2005

2005: Successful startup of the road tolls for HGVs: the syndicate Toll Collect begins operation on 1 January; Detecon played a major role in its technical development. The new system is used to collect tolls for HGVs on German highways based on the routes driven.

2005: Establishment of the subsidiary Detecon Asia-Pacific Ltd. in Bangkok, Thailand


2002

The two consulting companies, Detecon and Diebold, merge on 1 August. The new company combines the consulting services for telecommunications companies, governments, and international institutions offered by Detecon with the Diebold management consultancy which is closely related to technology.

Integration of Detecon into T-Systems International GmbH.

Deutsche Telekom takes over 100% of Detecon International GmbH.


2001

Establishment of the subsidiary DETECON Consulting Co. Ltd., Bejing, China.


1998

Establishment of Detecon, Inc., USA


1996

Deutsche Telekom increases its holdings in Detecon to 49%. Other Detecon shareholders are the Deutsche Bank and Dresdner Bank, each with 18.2%, and the SEB with 14.6%.


1993

Transfer of the Detecon mobile network projects to the new operating company Deutsche Telekom Mobilfunk GmbH (DeTeMobil), later to become T-Mobile International.


1991

The Debis-Systemhaus becomes a new shareholder at Diebold.


1990s: Detecon advises governments in Asia and Africa during the main wave of deregulation and privatization of national telephone companies


1987

Start of the GSM project D1: planning, installation, and marketing of the digital mobile network D1 on behalf of the Deutsche Bundespost, major involvement in the development of the GSM standard at ETSI.


1986

Establishment of the Diebold subsidiary in Zurich/Switzerland; expansion of the consulting portfolio to include business strategies and business process re-engineering.


1981

Establishment of Detecon Al Saudia


1980s: Detecon’s original business fields, especially consulting in the area of traditional telephone technology itself, are expanded in the following years to include related activities such as marketing, satellite technology, information technology, office communications, and mobile networks.


1977

Detecon Deutsche Telepost Consulting is established as an affiliate of the Deutsche Bundespost in Bonn. Its objective: worldwide consulting services in the field of telecommunications and postal services. It focuses on infrastructure studies and profitability analyses as well as neutral, independent consulting services tied to performance.


1959

Establishment of the Diebold subsidiaries in Germany.


1954

Establishment of the Diebold Group, Inc., in New York by John Diebold.
